Nevis Range Ski Resort
Scotland's nearest equivalent to an Alpine resort. Located 11km away from Fort William, it is close to Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. Access to the resort is by a six-seater gondola, from here a chairlift and a series of tows fan out. Queues for the return gondola journey can be huge when the weather is good in high season. The views from the Snowgoose restaurant (at the top of the gondola) are simple stunning. The resort has excellent off-piste terrain after a fresh snowfall for skiers and boaders alike (the best is found at the back bowls of Coire Dubh, at the top of the Braveheart chairlift.) Nevis Range's ski and snowboard school is very good - it runs cources in: junior race training, women's ski clinics and telemark. There is a terrain park with rails, boxes, ramps and a quarter pipe. There are a number of snack bars throughout the resort. The nearby town of Fort William has strong tourist appeal, and all hotels close-by are of good quality.
