Zakopane Ski Resort

Zakopane is situated in southern Poland. It's a city with almost 30 000 inhabitants situated at 800 meters above sea level.

The best skiing is found on the mountain Kasprowy Wierch (1985 m). To reach the top you will have to take the cable car. The cable car was built in 1936 and it is divided in two parts. The first part takes you up to an altitude of 1350 meters. The second part takes you to the top. On the top you can choose between two long slopes.

The best quality and amount of (artificial) snow can be found on Nosal. It is FIS certified slope to hold Special Slalom and Giant Slalom. Can get crowded during weekends and it is quite difficult. You are also able to ski in the evening due to electrical lighted slope.

Zakopane is also a centre of professional sports. In 1910 it hosted the first ski competition, which had 150 competitors from several countries. At the same time it organised the first ski jump competition, and actually the Nordic skiing made Zakopane popular world-wide. Through the years the town has been visited by professional skiers from all over the world.
